How to Enable Streams for Virtual Sessions

The Enable Stream checkbox is essentially your "go live" button for any particular session. It allows you to switch that session from any pre-roll content you may have optionally added to your live content. Your live content may be anything from a pre-recorded video, a Zoom webinar integration, or a custom RTMP integration (e.g. Vimeo Live). The bottom line is, it doesn't matter what you're using to stream your actual content, unless you want it to always be available, you're going to want it to go live at some specific point in time.

Uploading a Pre-Roll Video to Your Sessions

For various reasons ranging from promoting sponsors to sharing instructions, pre-roll videos are a powerful way to give your attendees something to engage with before your session goes live. This is an entirely optional step, but we recommend setting pre-roll content for your sessions in case attendees decide to join early. To do so, you can do one of two things:

Method A: Setting up a Global Pre-Roll Video

To upload a video that will play for each session:

  1. From the Event Dashboard, navigate to Experiences > Virtual > Design
  2. Scroll down to Videos
  3. Select Choose File under Global Pre-Roll Video
  4. Upload the video of your choice
  5. Select Save Changes

Method B: Setting up a Session Specific Pre-Roll Video

If set, this option will override the Global Pre-Roll video for that session.

  1. From the Event Dashboard, navigate to Sessions > Sessions
  2. Select the session you would like to adjust from the list
  3. Scroll down to Virtual Settings
  4. Under Pre-Roll Video, select Choose File
  5. Upload the video of your choice
  6. Select Save Changes

Uploading a Post-Roll Video to Your Sessions

A post-roll video is what plays after play after the session ends. In that sense, they are the opposite of pre-roll videos which only plays before the session start time. If the session is not live for five minutes after the session start time, then the post-roll video will be made visible.

Just like with Pre-Roll videos, you can set Post-Roll videos to appear in every session or upload specific videos for individual sessions.

Method A: Setting up a Global Post-Roll Video

  1. From the Event Dashboard, navigate to Experiences > Virtual > Design
  2. Scroll down to Videos
  3. Select Choose File under Global Post-Roll Video
  4. Upload the video of your choice
  5. Select Save Changes

Method B: Setting up a Session Specific Post-Roll Video

  1. From the Event Dashboard, navigate to Sessions > Sessions
  2. Select the session you would like to adjust from the list
  3. Scroll down to Virtual Settings
  4. Under Post-Roll Video, select Choose File
  5. Upload the video of your choice
  6. Select Save Changes

Setting a Session to Go Live

You can activate a session from the Event Dashboard through the Enable Stream checkbox. This will make the session appear on the virtual portal and be publicly accessible.

  1. From the Event Dashboard, navigate to Sessions > Sessions
  2. Select the session you would like to adjust from the list
  3. Scroll down to Virtual Settings
  4. Toggle on the Enable Stream checkbox
  5. Select Save Changes
