Setting Up Group Chats in the Event App

Please note, the Mobile Event Application Module is required to use this feature

Group Chats offer the attendees to interact with each other through messages during your event. The great thing about Group Chats are that they are entirely free to use for both Attendees and Admins to use, as long as the Mobile Event Application Module is included in your account. Simply create your group chat, and anyone can join and message the chat. 

Event Administrators can also restrict who can join and who can group chats on an individual basis. Group Chats will be hidden from attendees who do not meet the criteria. 

Joining Group Chats 

  1. From PheedLoop Go!, navigate to Groups
  2. Select the group chat you wish to join
    1. If there are many group chats, we recommend using the search bar at the top of the page to find the one you are looking for.

The attendee will now be able to join groups and message other members in the chat. 

Creating a Group Chat as an Attendee

  1. From PheedLoop Go!, navigate to Groups
  2. Select the + icon at the bottom right corner of the screen
  3. Tap the Camera icon to upload a photo or take a picture to serve as the Group Chat’s profile picture
  4. Under the Group Chat Name field, enter the name of the group chat
  5. Under the Group Chat Description field, enter the description of the group chat
  6. Select Save

The group chat will now be created and visible to other attendees.

Editing Group Chat information

The owner of the group chat can edit the information as necessary.

  1. From the Group Chat, select the info icon on the top right corner of the screen
  2. Select Edit
  3. Edit the profile picture, name, and description as necessary
  4. Select Save

The changes will now apply to the Group Chat.

Deleting Group Chats

If a group chat is no longer needed, the owner can delete the app. Event administrators can also remove group chats from the Event Dashboard.

  1. From the Group Chat, select the info icon on the top right corner of the screen
  2. Select Delete Group Chat
  3. Select Yes
  4. Enter the deletion phrase to confirm you wish to delete the group chat
    1. Please note, the phrase is case sensitive
  5. Select Submit

The group chat will now be deleted from the app. Please note, there is no way to undo this decision.

Understanding Group Chat Functionality

When engaging with the group chat, there are a number of features available for Attendees to make use of.

Following a Group Chat

If an attendee enjoys a particular group chat, they can follow the group chat and receive notifications whenever a message is sent.

  1. From the Group Chat, select the info icon on the top right corner of the screen
  2. Select Follow
    1. To unfollow a group chat, select Unfollow in the same page

The attendee will now be subscribed to the group chat and receive notifications when a new message is sent. Attendees can view a list of all the group chats they are following under the Following column of the Group Chats page.

Reacting to Messages

Attendees can react to messages with an emoji. Multiple emojis can be used to react to a single message but only once.

  1. From the Group Chat, tap the message you wish to react to
  2. Select the emoji you wish to react with

The emoji will now be listed under the message time stamp.

Deleting Messages

Attendees are able to delete their own messages. Please note, that this action cannot be undone.

  1. From the Group Chat, select the X icon to the top right of the message
  2. Select Yes

The message will now be deleted. Please note, that administrators are able to delete messages at their discretion. Group owners cannot delete messages in their group chat.

Moderating Group Chats from the Event Dashboard

All group chats created by attendees will appear in the Event Dashboard. Administrators will be able to view, edit, and create group chats. Please note, messages will not be displayed in the Event Dashboard, moderators will need to view messages directly in the Event App.

Creating Group Chats

  1. From the Event Dashboard, navigate to Experiences > Networking > Group Chat
  2. Above the Group Chats table, select Create
  3. Under the Image field, select Choose File to upload a profile picture for the group chat
  4. Under the Title field, enter the name for the group chat
  5. Under the Description field, enter the description for the group chat
  6. Under the Required Tags field, select any tags that an attendee needs to see and interact with the group chat
  7. Under the Required Tickets field, select any tickets that an attendee needs to see and interact with the group chat
  8. Under the Excluded Tags field, select any tags that will hide the group chat from attendees who have been assigned the selected tags
  9. Under the Excluded Tickets field, select any tickets that will hide the group chat from attendees who own the selected tickets
  10. Select Save Changes

Editing Group Chat Details

Group Chat details can be edited by administrators from the Event Dashboard. Please note, there is no way to edit the Group Chat from PheedLoop Go! without being the owner of the group chat.

  1. From the Event Dashboard, navigate to Experiences > Networking > Group Chat
  2. Select the Group chat you wish to edit from the list
  3. Under the Image field, select Choose File to upload a profile picture for the group chat
  4. Under the Title field, edit the name for the group chat
  5. Under the Description field, edit the description for the group chat
  6. Under the Required Tags field, select any tags that an attendee needs to see and interact with the group chat
  7. Under the Required Tickets field, select any tickets that an attendee needs to see and interact with the group chat
  8. Under the Excluded Tags field, select any tags that will hide the group chat from attendees who own the selected tags
  9. Under the Excluded Tickets field, select any tickets that will hide the group chat from attendees who own the selected tickets
  10. Select Save Changes

Deleting Group Chats

  1. From the Event Dashboard, navigate to Experiences > Networking > Group Chats
  2. Select the checkbox of the group chat you wish to remove
  3. Above the Group Chats table, select Actions > Delete
  4. Select Confirm

Please note, there is no way for an administrator to remove group chats directly from PheedLoop Go! without being the owner of the Group Chat.
